Eric Clapton - Need I say more. He has a minor planet (it is an asteriod actually) named after him. He has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times! The list is endless. I will stop whining about Clapton & talk about the albums that I have. For some of the most soulful guitar playing, get the "Layla" album of the "Derek and the Dominos". This one just rocks & with Duane Allman's slide guitar too! The "Rainbow Concert" CD is a nice one & that was the first live concert of Clapton after he came out of his drug abuse problem.
John Mayall & Jeff Beck are my other favorites in this league. I got to watch Jeff Beck in concert in Pompano Beach, FL last year. I am hoping to catch John Mayall on tour this year. The Yardbirds' albums of course contain songs featuring Clapton, Beck, Page & JPJ.
